AVA LOOKBOOK SS21

Directed + Styled by John Kalnins

Photography by Tyler Woodford

For the AVA Lookbook SS21, I took a hands-on approach in bringing the collection to life, from the creation of the cut-and-sew garments to the final edits. I worked directly with factories in NYC to produce the designs, ensuring that every piece embodied the quality and craftsmanship reflective of AVA's vision.

I scouted diverse locations across Brooklyn’s vibrant neighborhoods, capturing the unique character of the city to complement the collection's aesthetic. With a focus on authenticity, I sought out a well-known film photographer who had worked with ONLY NY, bringing a cinematic approach to the shoot that would resonate with the brand's creative identity.

Diversity and inclusion were central to the shoot, and I sourced four models—two creative, mixed-race couples, all close friends of mine. This choice highlighted AVA’s commitment to showcasing underrepresented voices in fashion. I also crafted a detailed shot list and moodboard, aligning all creative elements to ensure the visuals conveyed our intended message.
