EASTERN MOUNTAIN SPORTS SPONSORS THE BOSTON OUTDOOR EXPO

Challenge:
Reintroduce EMS to the Boston outdoor community through a high-impact sponsorship at the inaugural Boston Outdoor Expo—despite having very limited resources, as the company was quietly preparing to file for bankruptcy.
Approach:
I led EMS’s involvement as the official sponsor, overseeing the entire sponsorship and production process. This included designing custom EMS shirts for Expo staff, curating product for our booth, and coordinating on-site brand activations. I also produced all content with minimal support, filming and editing one video myself and producing a second using footage from the event’s videographer.
Outcome:
The booth drew thousands of attendees, and over 100 Expo staff wore our shirts, increasing visibility. Social content from the event saw strong engagement, and longtime EMS customers expressed enthusiasm about the brand showing up again in the outdoor space. Despite budget constraints, the activation was a rare win during an otherwise uncertain time for the company.
